I just found out about one thing. My favorite email service Gmail is apparently ignoring if you have a dot or more in your email address. So if you for example are using email@example.com it will also work if you send email to firstname.lastname@example.org or even email@example.com. Now why you would do that I don’t know, anyway, this feature was completely new to me.
Another feature that Gmail has is that you can add something after your prefix but before the @ sign adding a plus sign in between. So if you want to sign up for a new service and want to see if they give your email address to someone else it’s easy to see from where they got the email address. For example if you use the email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for Facebook and email@example.com for Twitter etc. The reason for that is that if you recieve spam or unwanted emails you can easily track from where they got your address.
And as usual, if you like this article, please share it.
