Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected and used when you visit matssjodin.com (the “Site”). I take your privacy seriously and only collect what is needed to run the Site and respond to you.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Mats Sjödin, based in Sweden. For any privacy-related question or request, contact me via the contact form.

What data is collected

  • Contact form: when you submit the contact form, your name, email address, optional phone number, and message are sent to me by email so I can reply. Delivery is handled by FormSubmit (see processors below).
  • Newsletter: if you subscribe, your email address is stored by my newsletter provider (Buttondown) to send you updates. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.
  • Analytics: the Site uses a self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool (Umami). It is cookieless and does not collect personal data or track you across sites. It records only aggregate, anonymised statistics such as page views, referrers, approximate country, and browser type.
  • Comments: blog comments are powered by Giscus, which stores comments as GitHub Discussions. To comment you sign in with GitHub; your comment data is then handled by GitHub under their privacy policy. Reading comments requires no account.
  • Server logs: the web server may keep short-lived technical logs (e.g. IP address, request time) for security and operational purposes.

Why your data is processed (legal basis)

  • To answer you when you use the contact form — based on your consent and my legitimate interest in responding.
  • To send the newsletter — based on your consent, which you give by subscribing and can withdraw at any time.
  • To understand Site usage via privacy-friendly analytics — based on my legitimate interest in improving the Site, using data that does not identify you.

Third-party processors

The following services may process data on my behalf:

Some of these providers may process data outside the EU/EEA. Where that happens, they rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long data is kept

Contact messages are retained only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is aggregated and not tied to you.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any of these, contact me via the contact form. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swedish data protection authority (IMY).

Cookies

The Site does not set first-party tracking cookies. For details, see the Cookie Policy.
